A high-activity flux for oxyacetylene and oxyhydrogen gas welding aluminum assemblies. AMCO 22 is used with pure aluminum filler such as 716, 1100 and aluminum-silicon alloy fillers such as 4043 and 4047. It provides a uniform, continuous bead and is considered the benchmark industry flux for the welding of aluminum.

The flux protects the molten metal from oxidation, increases the fluidity of the slag and helps dissolve oxides and other impurities. This allows for control of the size and shape of the weld bead. Similar to Peterson #1 but with an increased high-end temperature range. It is a blend of flux and metal which synergistically performs at temperature. Good results obtained by using cast iron rods that meet AWS A5.15-56T
